The Hug High School Mock Trial team placed second in our regional competition this year on 2/28/20. As a result, we were honored to be able to compete in the state competition in Las Vegas from 3/6-3/7/20. Our team consisted of the following students: Ana Delgadillo,Joseph Listinsky, Kate Hughs-Baird, Jacqueline Portnell, Christopher Seifert, Hannalea Weinzweig, Devin Cochran, Jonathan Chatham, Fiona Maclucas. The team was coached by Dave Watts-Vial and Mary Kanderas as the attorney coaches and Renee Martin and Selena La Rue Hatch as the teacher coaches. The kids were so excited to compete and show off the skills they have developed over the past several months. For some students, this was their first time traveling outside of Reno! The Hug HS team placed 5th overall and fought valiantly in every trial throughout the competition. None of this could have been possible without the generous support of the Northern Nevada Women’s Lawyer Association and we want to thank them for all of their help getting our team to state. Thank you for being a part of our Hawk family and helping our students soar.

This has been a really trying time for us. If we can try to look at the bigger picture, then maybe we can find purpose. Well, other than the bigger picture, I have no idea what we can do. There are tons of people who just think with their hearts. If we want to get a better footing, then we just need to do whatever it is that we can to make things better. I hope that this makes you happy.
